Being a Home for Cancer Patients World No Tobacco Day is
considered a very important day at for Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Vashi.
The patients who come to stay at the Ashram chiefly belong to the Below Poverty
Level strata, and they often consume tobacco in many forms without even knowing
its ill effects.
Like every year this year also Bharat Sevashram Sangha arranged
awareness program where Ms. Parishi Majamudar and Ms. Kshama Vairagi,
counselors from Department of Preventative Oncology of Tata Memorial Hospital created awareness amongst the participants about the ill effects of Tobacco
and cancer. The program started from 10:30 am. There was question and
answer session with the participants also.
The Ashram promoted and encouraged few sponsored students of the
locality by giving them an opportunity to announce and sing inspirational songs
in the program. Swamiji Siddhatmananda of the Ashram, along with the participants took a pledge
against tobacco and cancer and gave vote of thanks. Afterwards the patients were given fruits
